For this special project designed for a young family, the architects at P8A chose a Modern Minimalist style with a neutral palette to create an elegant, warm, and fully-functional living space. The combination of natural oak, creamy whites, and light grays offers a soothing atmosphere while enhancing the home’s contemporary feel.
Notably, Modern Contemporary has become a dominant trend in 21st-century architecture, capable of seamlessly evolving from Art Deco and Modernism to Tropical or Neoclassical styles. Here, the oak wood—characterized by clean, straight lines—pairs perfectly with the wooden flooring to evoke a sense of organic warmth. From the soft, rounded white fabric sofa to the square wooden coffee table and the cane-back dining chairs, every piece embodies refined simplicity. Thoughtfully curated decor and personalized storage solutions round out the space, blending aesthetic harmony with deep sentimental value.
Lighting is a cornerstone of interior design. Although the original apartment layout included three bedrooms and three bathrooms, we decided to sacrifice the bathroom adjacent to the kitchen to optimize the space and fulfill the homeowners' functional needs. This strategic renovation addressed three major objectives: maximizing natural light for the kitchen and dining area, expanding the kitchen’s footprint, and creating a seamless, open-plan flow between the living, kitchen, and dining zones. This layout allowed us to integrate all the amenities of a modern kitchen, including a dedicated prep island and high-tech appliances.
While natural light was carefully optimized, we placed equal importance on artificial lighting to enhance the interior’s aesthetic appeal. Our lighting designers scientifically calculated every detail—from brightness levels and beam angles to color temperatures—for track lighting, path lighting, and accent spots, ensuring a sophisticated and well-balanced atmosphere.
